Experts from as many as thirteen different countries shared their latest research findings on the education and upbringing of children with special needs at a conference hosted by DE GYGYK [Faculty of Education for Children and Special Educational Needs of the University of Debrecen]. The conference also marked the establishment of the Special Treatment International Research Group, led by the faculty located in Hajdúböszörmény.

The University of Pattimura, Indonesia, and Debreceni Egyetem (DE) [University of Debrecen (UD)] have signed a framework agreement on cooperation that will facilitate student exchanges, faculty mobility and academic collaboration in the future, primarily in the fields of teacher training, ethnography and cultural anthropology, as well as psychological sciences.
Italian Professor Nicola Barbieri has given a talk at the University of Debrecen's campus in Hajdúböszörmény on the child-centered professional methods of Loris Malaguzzi, one of the greatest figures of Italian pedagogy. The Italian professor also shared the results of his recent research on childhood thinking.
A II. János Pál Pápa Egyetem (Krakkó) szociálpedagógia szakos hallgatói a magyar szociális ellátórendszerrel ismerkedtek meg. Jártak Debrecenben a gyermekvédelmi szakszolgálatnál, a családok átmeneti otthonában, és egy fogyatékosokat ellátó intézményben. A szakmai programok után Debrecen nevezetességeit keresték fel, köztük az Egyetem főépületét, a botanikus kertet, a Nagyerdőt és a belvárost.
