Dear János, Anikó, Veronika, Gábor, Nóra and Magdolna
On behalf of Candela and Sandra, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
We would like to thank you for the care and kindness you have shown us over these past months. We come from a university system where students are just numbers.
Here, we have felt a great deal of affection from you and have received very close and personal treatment.
At the beginning, it was surprising for us that a professor would offer help, care or even their own home if we had needed it.
For us, this experience goes far beyond a simple Erasmus or a trip abroad. Our time here has been full of constant learning. Much of it thanks to you. You have given us the opportunity to talk about our country and to get to know yours in depth.
The subjects we have taken have not been just ordinary classes. You have helped us open our minds and look at education from a pedagogical perspective. Something that in Spain is often limited to theoretical classes with very little practice.
What we have enjoyed the most has been experiencing in real life the knowledge and theories taught in class. We never imagined that in Hungary we would have the opportunity to develop as teachers, and even less to learn in such a meaningful and enriching way.
Experiences such as visiting a school for children with disabilities or entering Roma families’ homes have been unique opportunities for us, which have tried to make the most of and learn as much as possible from.
Living all this has also made us realize how lucky we are to have an environment that encourages us to live these experiences, and be able to meet professionals like you, who give their all to share knowledge in such a meaningful way. One of the reasons why we decided to stay here for the whole year is because we know that there are opportunities that only happen once in a lifetime, and this is one of them.
We have never experienced such kind and caring treatment from professionals before. Thank you for this, for giving us this opportunity, and for helping us grow both as people and as future professionals.
Our families are also very grateful for everything we are living and learning in this country as it is important for them to know that we have someone we can count on while being far from home. You are a very important part of our experience.
See you in the second semester. Thank you for everything.
Sandra and Candela
